On the occasion of The Words to my Shit: Alexander Brener & Barbara Schurz Book Fair, Margarita Gluzberg read from the books she’s reading to her daughter: Russian children’s books mainly from the Soviet era, books she may have had read to her. She read and translated, or summed up in English. They buy a doll, the doll gets splashed with mud, and in order to get everything back to normal, the book says, we’ll wash the little doll in petrol. The little animals escape from the exploding belly of the burning fox. The other insects run away and hide when the big bad spider comes to capture and torture the young female fly. Brener & Shurz's Mafalda says: And remember: What makes children laugh can frighten adults.
